Sadec Online Shoppers is an independent retailer based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, trading since 2021. We sell Fieldbar cooler boxes, Smeg appliances and Stanley drinkware to customers across South Africa and the wider SADC region. We are not a franchise, not a showroom chain, and not an authorised agent for any of the brands we stock – and that distinction is worth explaining properly, because it is the reason our prices are lower and it changes where your after-sales support comes from.
Where the stock comes from
We buy genuine, new, boxed stock and resell it. Nothing here is a replica, a grey refurbishment or a lookalike brand. A Fieldbar Gin Trunk from us is the same box, with the same individually numbered brass plaque, that Fieldbar sells directly. A Smeg 50’s Style kettle from us carries the same KLF03 model code as the one on a showroom floor.
What we do not have is a badge on a manufacturer’s retailer list. Some customers assume that badge is a guarantee of authenticity. It is not – it is a commercial arrangement between a brand and a shop. Authenticity comes from the product, and you can check ours the same way you would check any purchase: the model code, the serial plate and the packaging.
Why the prices are lower
Three reasons, and none of them are complicated. We have no showroom floor, no mall rent and no sales staff on commission. We buy stock in and turn it over rather than holding it against a marketing budget. And we are a small operation, so the margin we need per unit is smaller than a national chain needs.
In practice that means a 1.7L Smeg kettle at R2,561 against a R4,199 list price, a two-slice toaster at the same R2,561, and a 4L Fieldbar Mini Bar at R1,200 against Fieldbar’s own R1,899. The unit in the box is identical. The saving is our overheads, not the product.
What warranty you actually get
This is the part most resellers are vague about, so here it is plainly. Because we are not an authorised agent, we do not process claims through a manufacturer’s service network on your behalf. Your cover is the warranty the South African Consumer Protection Act gives every buyer: six months from delivery, against defects, and it sits with us as the seller.
Within that six months, if an appliance is defective you are entitled to choose – a repair, a replacement or a refund. That is your right under section 56 of the Act, not a policy we invented, and we do not ask you to argue for it. Fieldbar is a separate case worth knowing: Fieldbar’s own five-year warranty attaches to the product, so a Fieldbar cooler box bought here carries it the same way one bought anywhere else does.
Delivery
Countertop appliances, cooler boxes and drinkware ship free anywhere in South Africa with no minimum spend, normally within three to five working days. Large appliances – cookers, fridges, freezers and wine coolers – travel by freight rather than standard courier, so we confirm timing and access with you before dispatch instead of quoting a blanket promise we cannot keep on a 110cm cooker. Cross-border delivery into the SADC region is quoted per order.
Returns and getting your money back
If something arrives damaged or is not what was ordered, tell us within a reasonable period and we collect it and put it right at our cost. Change-of-mind returns are handled under the terms on our returns and refunds page. We would rather you called first – most problems are faster to solve on the phone than through a form.
Checking us out before you buy
Spending R40,000 on a cooker with a shop you have not heard of is a reasonable thing to be cautious about. Read our customer reviews, read who we are, or simply call 063 944 0330 and speak to a person before you order. We would rather answer questions than process a return.
