Fieldbar 4L vs 10L vs 24L: sizes, prices and ice retention compared
Fieldbar makes three cooler box sizes. The 4L Mini Bar holds six 330ml cans and keeps ice for up to 24 hours. The 10L Drinks Box holds ten 330ml cans or three wine bottles and keeps ice for up to 50 hours. The 24L Gin Trunk holds 32 standing 440ml cans or ten 750ml wine bottles, stands bottles upright, and also keeps ice for up to 50 hours. All three are handmade in Cape Town, carry an individually numbered brass plaque and a five-year warranty, and are priced below Fieldbar’s own recommended retail here, with free delivery anywhere in South Africa.

How much does the 10L Drinks Box hold?
Ten 330ml beer cans, or three 750ml wine bottles, or two champagne bottles - that is Fieldbar’s own specification for the 10L Drinks Box. Pack ice around them and it holds cold for up to 50 hours. The box is 1.8kg empty and measures 380mm high by 250mm long by 160mm deep, and the lid is rated to take an adult sitting on it.
How long does it keep ice?
Up to 50 hours when it is pre-chilled and packed full, using removable high-performance foam insulation, an airtight ring gasket and a pressure-lock lid.
Should I buy the 10L Drinks Box or the 24L Gin Trunk?
Take the 10L if you are packing cans and a day out for two. Take the Gin Trunk if you want bottles standing upright with room for ice and tumblers. The 10L nests inside the 24L, so plenty of people end up with both.
