Smeg’s 50’s Style toaster is the appliance that started the range: a die-cast aluminium body, a chrome lever and dial, and a colour that is meant to be seen rather than hidden in a cupboard. There are 25 of them here across two models. Sadec Online Shoppers is an independent South African retailer – we buy genuine, boxed Smeg stock and resell it, and every toaster on this page is priced a flat 39% below Smeg South Africa list. The gloss two-slice lists at R4,199 and sells here for R2,561.
The two-slice model is the TSF01: 950 W, two extra-wide slots that take a doorstep slice or a crumpet, six browning levels, and defrost and reheat settings. Fourteen colours – the gloss finishes at R2,561 and the matt finishes, which list higher at R4,799, at R2,927: Cream R2,561, Pastel Blue R2,561, Slate Grey R2,561, Pastel Green R2,561, Pink R2,561, Red R2,561, Black R2,561, Black Gloss R2,561, White R2,927, Storm Blue R2,927, Champagne R2,927, Emerald Green R2,927, Black Matt R2,927, Blu Mediterraneo R8,905.
The four-slice model is the TSF02, and it is worth knowing that it is not four small slots – it is two extra-long slots, each holding two slices side by side or one long sourdough slice. It runs at 1400 W and adds a bagel setting that toasts the cut face without drying the crust. It lists at R5,499 and sells here at R3,354 in all seven colours: White R3,354, Cream R3,354, Pastel Blue R3,354, Pink R3,354, Pastel Green R3,354, Red R3,354, Black R3,354.
Choosing between them comes down to bread more than household size: the two-slice suits a standard loaf, the four-slice suits sourdough, baguette and bagels. Either way, delivery is free anywhere in South Africa and the six-month Consumer Protection Act warranty runs through us as the seller. Pair one with the matching Smeg kettle in the same colour or a Smeg blender, browse the full Smeg range, or read how delivery works.
