Selezione is Smeg’s straight-lined stainless look with a full-width bar handle – the one that sits flush in a run of cabinetry without asking for attention.
This is a built-in unit, not a countertop machine. It drops into a standard 60 cm housing, either stacked above an oven or set into a tall unit at eye level, and it needs that housing for airflow – it should not be stood on a worktop. Inside it is 25 litres with 900 W of microwave power and a 1000 W quartz grill. Quartz comes up to heat faster than a coiled element, which is what makes it usable for browning a gratin rather than just melting cheese. Two rack levels let you grill on the shelf and stand a dish underneath.
